Professional Development

Dear Customers/Visitors,

Computer English funtions primarily as a freelance translation/localisation microcompany, therefore I would like to present some information about myself. I can be briefly described as a person whose life is governed by two sources of passion: English language and computers. I spent my childhood in the wonderful eighties, the age when the 8-bit computers dominated the Polish market. I also remember a quotation found at that time on a cover of an IT magazine, stating:

"IF YOU QUIT LEARNING ENGLISH OR HAVE NEVER EVEN STARTED, YOU'RE ALREADY DEAD."

Having remembered the slogan, I decided to further my knowledge of English. I graduated from a Teacher Training College in Wroclaw, Poland, and received a B.A. diploma at the Wroclaw University. Afterwards, I continued my education at an M.A. course at the Institute of English Studies at the same university. I did not abandon my interest in computer science, though. Thus, I took a B.Sc. course at Wroclaw Higher School of Management and Information Technology "Copernicus." In 2006 I was present at CeBIT trade fair in Hannover, Germany. I also try to attend IT-related conferences like Borland RoadShow.

I have to develop my skills every day in order to remain in top form in a highly competitive market. Since July, 2007 I have been a full member of the world's largest community of translators - Proz.com. Naturally, as an English tutor I try to follow the innovations in ELT methodology and linguistic studies closely.
